Pat Bamford Joins the Blades Despite Initiating Abusive Chants Targeting Coach Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with Sheffield United just seven months following starting derogatory songs targeting their manager, Wilder.

This experienced striker, without a club since leaving Leeds United, has put pen to paper on a deal joining the second-tier club in difficulty through the winter. His lengthy career with Leeds was ended through agreement this past summer.

Among the player's final notable acts as a Leeds player involved leading offensive songs regarding Wilder during Leeds' promotion celebrations in April. Currently, the one-cap England international will be playing under Wilder as the Blades’ manager seeks to rescue the team he loves out of the drop zone.

Previous Conflict Between Bamford and the Manager

Both men had history before Leeds won promotion to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United lost the playoff final by Sunderland. Wilder called the forward as a "muppet" back when the situation was different in 2018-19 and the Blades won direct promotion whereas Leeds fell short in the playoffs.

Making Amends and Moving Forward

All appears has been forgiven and forgotten with United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, in desperate need of a boost in attack while Bamford aiming to revive his playing days.

The song about Wilder gained traction in April. An apologetic Bamford along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Wilder stated at the time: “Had a conversation with Pat recently and I’ve no problem at all with it. I'm uncertain regarding the language from a fellow professional! However I appreciated and respected him calling me.

“We spent a short while and similarly I talked with Daniel Farke as well and we had a longer discussion together and he's a super guy, a top guy. Back in my playing days we used to give it and take it and that’s an integral part of the game at every level, including a Sunday morning. I have absolutely no issue. I am cool with it and I said that to Pat.”

Recent Career Struggles

The forward made 18 games with Leeds United last season but the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC & Middlesbrough player has struggled with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
