'Living a Nightmare': Loved Ones of Missing Young People Await Information After Ski Resort Blaze

The families of teenagers missing after a tragic inferno at a establishment in a Switzerland's alpine town are enduring an agonising period of uncertainty for answers and appealing for information about their children publicly.

The blaze devastated the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of New Year's Day. Circulated footage show the ceiling igniting as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Officials have stated that it could take considerable time to formally name the victims of the tragedy, which killed 40 people and hurt another scores more. Officials said on Friday that the majority of the injured have been accounted for, with efforts ongoing to identify the remaining few.

In the meantime, loved ones have been posting on the internet to plead for clues about their missing relatives who were at the bar that evening.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For

The whereabouts of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his mother.

The who lives of Lutry near the city, explained to a local newspaper that she had returned to Lausanne to check whether he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the equivalent search in Bern, but could not find him.

"This is a living nightmare, a nightmare. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in critical condition. Words cannot describe it," she stated.

She explained that some of his companions had been found with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "There are no words; they endured an absolute nightmare."

The Italy's government has confirmed that six of its nationals are still unaccounted for.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old junior golfer, who hailed from Genoa but now living in the UAE.

The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is deceased, without directly referencing the tragedy, honoring a "young athlete who carried with him dedication and true sportsmanship."

His father, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An official spokesperson has clarified that a official announcement of his death is not yet.

Further Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also unaccounted for. His mother told reporters that he had been on holiday but had ventured out with friends and ended up at the bar.

"Someone with him said they fled after the fire started and that he had his phone with him, but then at a specific moment he couldn't see him anymore," she said, adding he had been wearing a identifiable piece of jewelry.

One of his educators said, "He was known for his good nature and positive demeanor, coupled with great maturity. He would frequently offer to help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives permanently in the country, was also at the bar on that night, according to media.

Her brother has published an appeal online, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Officials from her country of origin say they are actively engaged with the situation.
