Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent Far Cry instalment that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for celebrating violence and madness with similar enthusiasm, all while presenting gripping, socially charged narratives. It’s no surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two producers whose work have embodied all of those elements.

What to Expect

Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' style by featuring a different setting and group of personalities in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the creator.

“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners always encourages me with their ongoing confidence and backing.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone series. Every title is a take of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can shift from year to year, while always exploring the core of people through this multifaceted and chaotic lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to partner with Rob and present our common bold, daring approach to the television.”

A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
