Nearly 55,000 households have so far been affected by the weather, with their items and shelters ruined.

Heavy storms over the last seven days have compounded the extremely difficult circumstances of the hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians in the region, as reported by relief agencies.

"Horrendous" Weather Creates Serious Dangers

A official described the weather overnight as "awful", with precipitation so heavy that up to 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.

"Last night was truly horrendous for the residents. The downpours were so strong... And the gales were so forceful," noted the spokesperson.

There is extreme anxiety that young ones living in makeshift shelters in damp attire will succumb to hypothermia and various sicknesses.

Deaths and Significant Damage

Health authorities have confirmed that one baby has passed away from the cold and no fewer than 11 other people have been killed in building collapses due to the severe weather.

Additional accounts indicate a increased number of casualties. Spokespeople stated that multiple residential buildings had collapsed completely and dozens had been partly destroyed.

  • Nearly 55,000 families affected by flooding.
  • More than 40 designated refuges submerged.
  • Many people compelled to relocate again.

Assistance Distribution Deemed Not Enough

Groups have increased deliveries of shelter, warm covers and clothes since the truce began, but they stress there is remains not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Agencies are working relentlessly to provide that relief and to distribute it, but the size of the needs is so vast that we continue to see many thousands of people and minors who are truly struggling nightly," cautioned one official.

Ongoing Issues and Truce Plans

The second phase of the agreement encompasses plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with post-war governance, the pullback of troops, and other terms.

Aid bodies have stressed the need for "increased and sustained aid to address immediate and long-term requirements."

The war was triggered by an assault in late 2023. Later military operations have led to a significant number of lives lost in the territory, according to health ministry reports.
