Glasgow Warriors began their Champions Cup campaign in perfect fashion with a crucial bonus-point away victory against Sale Sharks.

Taking advantage of the wind at their backs, Sale started strongly and raced to a 14-0 lead within 20 minutes. Tries from the Sale skipper and teenage debutant Ollie Davies gave them early control.

However, the visitors responded well with a pair of scores before the interval. Forward Hiddleston and flanker Darge both went over to narrow the deficit.

Further after the break scores from captain Kyle Steyn and Stafford McDowall pushed the Warriors' advantage to 26-14. Marius Louw's reply for the hosts promised a nervous finish, but the visitors held firm to secure a significant opening win.

Glasgow Seize Initiative After Half-Time

The match began with a quick try as skipper Van Rhyn scored from short distance after just two minutes. A first-half injury to centre Rekeiti Ma'asi-White brought teenager Davies into the action for his cup debut.

Davies made an immediate impact. Switching to fly-half, he took a good support line to collect an pass and score, making Sale's lead.

Against challenging conditions, the Warriors turned to their set-piece to get back into the game. A strong driving maul was touched down by hooker Hiddleston. Just before the break, Darge forced his way over, with Adam Hastings' conversion making it a two-point game at the interval.

Glasgow seized the lead for the first occasion soon after the second half. A misjudged kick was collected by No. 8 Jack Dempsey, who fed skipper Steyn to burst through a challenge and sprint to the line.

With in the driving seat, Glasgow secured the fourth try when Stafford McDowall ran through a tackle to celebrate his century for the club. That score completed a run of twenty-six unanswered points.

The hosts gave themselves a late hope when Marius Louw used good skills to cross. The kick made it a one-score game with minutes remaining.

A final chance came for them from a line-out in the corner, but they lost the ball, confirming Glasgow's triumph.
