Chief Executive Signs Measure to Disclose Further Jeffrey Epstein Files After Months of Resistance

Donald Trump declared on Wednesday evening that he had endorsed the legislation overwhelmingly passed by American lawmakers that mandates the Department of Justice to release more files related to the convicted sex offender, the deceased sex offender.

The move comes after months of pushback from the chief executive and his supporters in the legislature that split his political supporters and created rifts with various established backers.

Trump had resisted disclosing the Epstein files, calling the issue a "hoax" and criticizing those who wanted to make the files available, notwithstanding vowing their disclosure on the campaign trail.

Nevertheless he altered his position in the last week after it was evident the House would approve the legislation. The president commented: "There are no secrets".

The specifics remain uncertain what the department will release in response to the legislation – the measure details a host of potential items that must be released, but includes exemptions for certain documents.

Trump Approves Measure to Require Release of Additional Epstein Files

The bill requires the top justice official to make non-classified Epstein-connected documents accessible to the public "in an easily accessible digital format", encompassing each examination into Epstein, his associate his accomplice, travel documentation and journey documentation, persons cited or listed in relation to his crimes, institutions that were connected with his human trafficking or economic systems, exemption arrangements and additional legal settlements, internal communications about charging decisions, records of his detention and demise, and information about potential document destruction.

The justice department will have one month to provide the files. The bill provides for certain exemptions, such as removals of confidential victim data or individual documents, any descriptions of child sexual abuse, releases that would endanger ongoing inquiries or prosecutions and representations of fatality or abuse.
